Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots- Nanny Program

Overview

  • Aims to make it easier for home care workers such as who is doing the nanny jobs or are baby sitting jobs or taking care of elderly or sick people (home support or home childcare) to:
    • Become permanent residents
    • Find work with a range of employers

Two Streams

  1. Workers in Canada – Opens first on March 31, 2025
  2. Applicants Not Working in Canada – Opens later

Key Changes & Benefits

  • One-step permanent residence for qualified workers and their family members (no prior Canadian work experience required).
  • Lower language & education requirements:
    • CLB/NCLC 4
    • High school diploma
  • No prior Canadian work experience needed
    • Instead, applicants need 6 months of relevant work experience or a 6-month caregiver training credential
    • Must have a full-time job offer in Canada (outside Quebec)

Job Offer Flexibility

  • Eligible employers include:
    • Private households hiring
    • Home health care service providers
    • Direct care agencies
    • Pediatric home health care service providers
    • Personal care services in residential settings
    • Home care support service providers
    • Organizations hiring full-time caregivers for nanny jobs

📌 Recruitment/placement agencies are NOT eligible employers.

Eligibility Criteria

  • CLB/NCLC 4 in English or French
  • Canadian high school diploma (or equivalent)
  • 6 months of relevant experience or training
  • Full-time job offer in home care
  • No LMIA required

For Applicants in Canada Without Status

  • No specific details yet, but updates are expected.
